What's Your Church About?

At the local Church where I am currently serving, I've been doing a bit of media work (e.g. helping revamp the website, making a kind of digitized brochure, developing slideshows, creating videos, etc.). The following is a short video I made as a "welcome" / "about" video; I think it's pretty cool. Any thoughts?

  1. Very nice! It may have been something with my browser but the text seemed to be going a little fast.

  2. All that's missing is the "I'm Michael Halcomb and I approve this message." :) Seriously, though, looks great.

  3. David,
I just watched the vid a second time and everything was on time. i use iexplorer, what browser do you use? are you on high speed internet? thanks for the comments.

    joey,
indeed, i was thinking about getting good ol' wyneland (or however you spell his name) to do the stamp of approval but alas, he was too busy talking about Chandragupta. thanks for the encouragement.

    blessings to both of you.

  4. I am test driving Google Chrome. Perhaps the speed at which the text changed was what threw me off. I watched it again in IE and it didn't seem to change as fast as before.

Hay Michael great video. Being out word focused is the part that caught my attention the most. It's the main reason I started coming outland. I may be biased about outland. But I learned the most important lesson of my life, that is helping others is the most exciting and rewarding part of being a Christian. Before I came to outland church helping others was foreign. It's the part that most churches get wrong. At the last church about the only thing people would do to lift a hand for another person was put together at the potluck. I'm not knocking potlucks but when that's the only thing you can put together, that's pretty sad. Thanks Michael for reminding me of why I started outland.

I like the reference to the Jesus movement. As we talked about I believe Christianity is movement and not a religion. Christ didn't die for another religion. Nor did He have a personal relationship with the world just for religious sake. Religion just isn't that that noble. Christ died so I could have perspiration realtionship with Him. I compared the Jesus movement to other movements. Such as the civil rights movement, the women's movement and the movements in India and South Africa. These causes actually impacted people's lives whether you agree with the cause or not. Just my two cents.
