First Theologian To Die In A Plane Crash

Okay, so, earlier today, I posted a quiz question on Facebook and it has still yet to be answered correctly, so, I thought I'd add the riddle here. The question is: Who was the first (biblical) theologian to die in a plane crash? Some of the wrong answers were: Jesus, God, Pontius Pilot/Pilate and Buddy Holly. Those were quite funny in the context of the discussion but come on people, doesn't anyone out there know this? Take a shot at it and post your answer in the comments section of this post.

  1. Carl Michalson, a prominent theologian, was Andrew V. Stout Professor of Systematic Theology at Drew University, where he taught from 1943 to 1965. He was a prolific author, editor, and translator. His tragic death in an airplane crash in 1965 was mourned throughout the international community of theologians and intellectuals.

  2. Or how about B.H. Streeter, died 1937 in a plane crash in Switzerland?

  3. Mark, you're the freakin' man! It wasn't Michalson but it was indeed, the famed B.H. Streeter!!! Good job man. Did you know that or did you find it through doing a little research?

  4. Ha, I was just looking at my "statistics" page and realized that today, someone Googled "Who was the first major theologian to die in a 'plain' crash" (emphasis mine) in hopes of finding the answer. Unfortunately, it just landed them back at Pisteuomen. Whoever that was, good try...but kinda funny.

  6. I just did a little searching on the web. A google is a terrible thing to waste. But all the lists of plane crashes I had to go through made me want to walk next time I travel.
