I Graduated

Today was graduation. In addition to my BS in Bible & Ministry (Kentucky Christian Univ.) and my MDiv (Lexington Theological Seminary), I recieved my MABS from Asbury Theological Seminary today (with Eta Beta Rho honors). Actually, I've still got one final exam to take (next Mon.) so, going to class right after the ceremony this afternoon was a little bit anti-climactic. Anyways, I've not had a single break from school--during the fall, winter, spring or summer summer seasons--in the last 4 years so, I'm looking forward to some time off of school, starting as soon as next week.

  3. Congratulations. Just one question though. Why did you get 2 masters in the same general area?

  4. Nick, Chris and Bryan, thanks a lot.

As per the near future I will continue being Sr. minister at the Church where I currently serve. If the Lord drops grad school into my lap in the future, I guess I will have to pursue it. Now, though, I'm just going to enjoy my family, friends and work as well as try to write some, perhaps on the Gospel of Mark.

The reason I got two masters in the same area is multifold:

    1. I wanted to be excellent and have a good grasp on the subject

    2. I wanted to work on languages and exegesis (hence the focus of the 2nd degree)

    3. I wanted to be in ministry and learn about ministy (hence the 1st degree)

    4. I wanted to study under Ben Witherington as much as possible and he was only teaching an hour away from where I live(hence the 2nd degree)

    5. I had recieved my MDiv from a pretty liberal institution and wanted to get back into an academic evangelcial atmosphere (hence the 2nd degree)

I could probably give a bunch of reasons but those are right there at the top of the list, not to leave out the fact that I felt led. Who knows, I may never get a PhD or doctorate so, this could be it. I guess that only time will tell.

  7. congratulations! that's a lot of hard work. I wouldn't be surprised though if you miss it after a bit of a break, and head back for that doctorate (been there, in another field)

  8. Way to go, Michael!
You've worked hard. May God bless you in the way you use what He's given you.

I'm so glad that our studies caused us to cross paths.

I don't know if I'll ever go back to school either, but I'm very grateful for my time at Asbury.

  9. Wendy,

Thanks so much; you're probably right!

    Clay,

Ditto; I'm so glad we met at ATS. BTW, I thought you'd be at the ceremony today, did you already walk? Anyways, we should hang out some time now that we both have a little bit of extra time on our hands. Perhaps our Lydias could meet! Would you and yours be interested in meeting for dinner or even coming out here some time? You can firstclass me w/a reply if you'd like.

Yes, I remember you and your parents. Glad you found my blog. By the way, how did you find it? Tell your mother (and father) I said hello. I take it you are attending Ozark? Also, the link on your blogger profile is shaky. In the one link you have three /// In the other link you need to add the www The link only worked once I added www to it. Anyways, glad you found Pisteuomen, check back frequently. Be blessed.
